The ITM Law Centre was set up in 2009 (the ITM Legal Unit from 2003) to counter some of the negative legislative developments that were taking place and assist the ITM in developing strategic legal and policy responses to key issues facing Travellers.
The overall aim of the legal unit is to promote Travellers' human and legal rights as an ethnic minority group within Irish society. The strategic goals of the Unit are:

Legal Education for All Project (LEAP):This project has engaged disadvantaged communities with the legal process and equipped them to understand, use and work within it by implementing a series of actions devised to facilitate the engagement of the target groups and develop their access routes to legal education and information.
